So often World Geography is considered the subject in which you learn to locate places on maps.

But it is so much more….
In order to understand the place on those maps, one must also understand the HUMAN and the ENVIRONMENT within the place.

iNaturalist is an organization that links citizen-scientists around the world. Anyone can create an account and submit photos and location data to improve our knowledge of place in the world. Before embarking on my Antarctic expedition, I created a project on iNaturalist to document the species I personally witnessed. Unfortunately, I was not able to photograph everything. On one of the last days I saw a blue whale while standing next to the whale specialist. However, there was no way to quickly capture that fleeting moment.
After many hours of working, I have finally finished uploading the photos I was able to capture on the expedition. I truly hope that you will enjoy learning more about the species I encountered along the way.
